How Long Until Sye Becomes the Leader of a Cult?
It struck me recently that Ol’ Circular Sye, bullshitter in chief at the painfully misnomered ‘Proof that God Exists’ website, and leader of ‘Sinner Ministries’ might, one day, end up as the leader of a cult. Certainly, if you read the ‘Sinner Ministries’ facebook page, you’ll see a group of people practically worshipping our monomaniacal Canadian chum(p). Take a look at a thread on the facebook wall of Tommy Rodriguez, and you’ll see various members of Sye’s circle displaying the kind of double think that is often born out of a personality cult.
Consider the numerous interactions that I’ve had with him over the last year, in none of them does Sye mention the standard foundation stones of Christianity – no Jesus, no resurrection, no creation, no citing of so called ‘fulfilled’ prophesy, none of these get a look in when Ten Bruggencate is on a ‘How do you know that?’ roll.
Sye has even gone as far as saying that it is wrong to use any argument other than his presubullshit nonsense, tells his followers that everyone believes in his version of his particular god, merely ‘denying his existence in unrighteousness’, whilst making sure to clarify that anyone who has left the fold was never a ‘true Christian’ in the first place. It’s classic ‘in group/out group’ methodology combined with a heavy dose of ‘only MY argument is valid’ cult of personality.
As of today 545 sycophants (sye-cophants?) have joined the Sinner Ministries group, seemingly only there to praise Sye Ten Bruggencate.
Now, it’s entirely possible that none of that will happen, that Sye will simply remain a fringe concern, peddling some rather bizarre beliefs, but if things go the other way, remember where you read it first!
I’ll leave you with this quote from the Bible (a book which I do not hold to be authoritative btw) –
Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. (16) You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? (17) Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. (18) A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. (19) Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. (20) Therefore by their fruits you will know them. Matthew 7:15-20
What kind of ‘fruit’ is Sye gathering?
